Frequently Asked Questions
This is to discourage phone calls for general inquiries during the day so we can give all the dogs in our care our full attention. You will have our phone number after booking a service with us.
For general inquiries, please reach out to us by completing our contact form or message us through our social media accounts and we would be happy to respond to you as quickly as possible!
Dogs need lots of exercise and stimulation to remain healthy and happy. As the saying goes, a tired dog is a happy and less destructive dog so by sending your pup to daycare while you are out for the day or at work, you can make sure you have a dog that is well stimulated, less anxious and ready to sleep when you get home.
As we are a kennel-free daycare, we try to design our day so that the dogs are all on similar energy levels. We highly prioritize our morning run, afternoon pack-nap (yay cuddles!) followed by afternoon run or playtime. If we introduced an exuberant dog into the mix mid-day, this would be unfair and possibly unsafe for our other tired pups.
The first step is filling out our online contact form and reading/signing our terms and conditions. Once we receive your request, one of our team members will reach out to you as soon as possible to schedule an assessment and discuss availability. The assessment day is a full day of daycare and is designed so we can determine if our daycare is the right fit for your dog. You have to be available to pick up your dog at any time during the day if we determine that your dog is not a good fit.
The safety and enjoyment of all of our guests is very important to us so we will be looking at how your dog interacts with other dogs at daycare. We look for their social skills with other dogs, their level of recall, any signs of aggression, their level of comfort around people, and other behaviors. While we understand that each dog is unique and has their own preferences (some are more shy or more outgoing than others) we want to make sure that your dog, along with our other guests, will not only feel at ease and comfortable during their stay, but that they will also have fun!
The temperament of each dog is unique and we do our best to work WITH the dog and their specific needs. In our experience, it doesn’t take too long for anxious and nervous dogs to adjust to the pack and see that daycare is FUN! With lots of positive reinforcement, we will move as slowly or as quickly as they need to feel safe and secure and generally, they tend to adjust well. Scheduling an assessment to determine if your pup would do well with daycare is the first step. If it is determined that they are simply too anxious and it really is an unpleasant experience for them, we also offer individual at-home walks and check-ins. Please check our services page for pricing or contact us for more information and see if this option is right for you.
YES! We are happy to show you our space but cannot accept visits without an appointment. Please schedule a visit and sign our waiver form before you come.
A full day at daycare includes two long play sessions at one of the many local dog parks near us – sometimes this includes a run through the woods or swim in the lake. While at daycare we offer quiet time for much needed naps and lots of opportunity for free play in the backyard or brain activities for those who have EXTRA energy to burn. You will be able to keep tabs on your pup throughout the day by viewing our many social media stories that are continuously updated!
Your dog will never be alone as we have staff available to stay overnight with your dog to offer all of the comfort they might need while at the sleepover. They can choose to sleep on one of our dog beds, cribs, or sofas, or they can sleep in bed with the people.
It is recommended that you provide the food for your dog as switching foods suddenly can cause an upset stomach. You don’t need to send a bowl unless your dog won’t eat our of any other bowl.
While we do our best to ensure the safety of all of our guests, little scuffles do happen from time to time. In the unlikely event that your dog is injured while in our care, GardeGriffes is fully insured. The dogs will receive immediate veterinary care but the client is responsible to cover all costs.
